Not Everything Is Good

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. - Romans 8:28

I think that this is one of the most often misconstrued verses in the Bible.

It is not too uncommon to hear someone say, "It will all work out in the end", but that isn't really true.

According to this verse, "all things work together for good", yes, but this verse only applies, "to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose". This verse is not saying that everything will work out in the end for everyone, this verse in particular is specifically talking about those that love God, who are called to do His will.

One could make the argument that this only applies to Christians that are following God's will for their lives, but, I can't say that it is clear to me either way.

Another way that some people misinterpret this verse is to mean that God only lets good things happen to Christians, but this is clearly untrue as well. This verse does not say that all things are good, or that they will seem to be good when they happen, it means that everything will work for good, or that good will come of it.

As we see in this verse, all things are for our good, and for His glory.

We must never forget this fact, that, Somehow, somewhy, someway, God will work each and every situation for our good, and for His Glory.

Have you seen a situation where you knew that God was working together for good?

I would honestly love to hear about it, you can send an email to me at, clayton@claytondsmith.com,

or you can write it down and mail it to me at:
